Chelyl Christian and Laura Kalina, publishers of Low-glycemic Meals in MinutesCheryl Christian
Cheryl Christian, as a Certified Personal Trainer, understands the need for families and individuals of all ages to make healthier choices when it comes to meal planning. As a busy mother of two boys, she also understands the overwhelming difficulties that many people face as they try to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into one that is already very demanding.

Cheryl embarked on a lengthy personal journey of researching and experimenting to find a healthy weight loss plan for her overweight son. She began studying the effects of weight management through low-glycemic eating. She discovered that his calorie consumption was not out of line, but an abundance of high glycemic carbohydrate choices was sabotaging their efforts. With this new found knowledge, Cheryl’s next challenge was to adapt and incorporate dietary changes that could fit easily into their busy lifestyle.

Her success in this is what motivated her to develop the "Pre-cook Days" and the "Quick Prep" meal plan that can easily be incorporated into any busy household. Parents began to call and ask how the Quick Prep worked. She then realized the need for families and individuals to understand how low-glycemic eating can lead to lifelong weight management and better health.

Laura Kalina
Food preparation, including the availability of healthy food for everyone, has been a part of Laura Kalina’s life since early childhood when she had aspirations of becoming a dietitian. Since achieving that dream, her contributions to food security and healthy eating have been many. One of her proudest moments was the opening of Community Kitchens in her city, where families could come together to cook once or twice a week resulting in healthy meals available for their families for all week.

Now a registered dietitian and successful business leader, Laura has an extensive understanding of the role of food and nutrition in the prevention of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. She has seen all too often the damaging effects of oxidative stress on the body caused by hectic lifestyles, poor food choices, environmental pollution and a compromised food production system. As a busy mother herself, with two active teenagers, one of whom is a daughter with type 1 diabetes, she also understands the daunting challenges that families face trying to balance a multitude of activities with the goal of achieving optimal health.

The most common concern of today’s busy families is "not enough time." Lack of time, combined with the convenience and prevalence of fast food restaurants and prepackaged foods, has led to an unprecedented rise in obesity rates and chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Of particular concern is the tripling of childhood obesity in the last decade. This book will make your "not enough time" concern a thing of the past. It focuses on the "Quick Prep" method and shows you how easy it is to prepare healthy, well-balanced meals for your family in less time than a trip to your local fast food restaurant.
